Facelift and Neck Lift Surgery

Although everyone shows the effects of aging of the face differently, the signs of growing older are inevitable.  Skin will start to loosen, deep lines and folds emerge, and a once firm and smooth jawline may develop fullness.  The process is the result of the decent of the soft tissues of the midface and the cheeks lower into the face.  When it comes to turning back the clock and restoring a more youthful appearance, facelifts and neck lifts offer the most comprehensive results.

Board-certified surgeons, James Fowler and Wes Culpepper, are dedicated to restoring appearance that better reflects your inner energy and vitality.  Your facelift should create a more youthful contour, but in a subtle way that does not make the procedure itself outwardly obvious.

What is a facelift?

A facelift is a plastic surgery procedure designed to remove excess skin of the upper and lower face and replacing the volume of the midface back over the cheeks. This 2 part procedure will smoot the folds and wrinkles from excess skin and tone the midface to restore a more youthful contour.  Clinically referred to as a rhytidectomy, it is performed to address visible signs of aging of the face and neck.

A facelift is an ideal way to correct concerns such as:

The difference between a facelift and a neck lift

A neck lift is a procedure that targets the area from the jawline to the collar bone.  It can eliminate the saggy bands of loose skin while tightening the underlying muscles, providing you with a firmer, smoother, and better defined jaw and neck.

A full facelift always includes a neck lift to achieve the most significant results.  However, a neck lift can be performed alone, without a facelift, depending on your unique goals. Our surgeons will consult with you to determine where you are looking for improvement and provide a treatment plan to address those concerns.

Ideal Facelift Candidates

Generally speaking, you may be a facelift candidate if you are in good health and have realistic expectations.  This procedure is ideal if you are looking for a long-lasting facial rejuvenation option that offers significant improvement.  Facelift and neck lift surgery can be an excellent option for men and women who want to correct visible aging from the midface to the lower neck.  A facelift does not address the forehead or around the eyes.  If improvement is desired in these additional areas, brow lift and blepharoplasty may be appropriate.

What to Expect From Facelift Surgery

Facelifts are typically performed as an outpatient procedure under anesthesia.   The exact nature of your procedure will depend on the type of facelift and additional areas that are being treated.  Incisions are made on the face and neck and are designed to be concealed and create scars that are well hidden and virtually unnoticeable once matured.  Postoperatively, patients experience mild discomfort that is readily controlled with pain medication.  The typical facelift patient can return to work and resume light activities after 10 days to 2 weeks.  The results of a facelift can be evident for a number of years after surgery.  Good skin care and a health lifestyle will extend your result further.  Still, it important to remember that the aging process will continue to take its progressive toll, and some patient may seek revisions in the future.
